Branch and counter local SEO

Branch local SEO makes sure a contractor searching from a job site finds your nearest counter, with the right hours, the right phone number and a reason to drive there.

Branch and counter local SEO is the work of making every physical location you run show up correctly in Google Maps and local search. When a contractor types "plumbing supply near me" at 6:40 a.m., the map results decide which counter gets the visit. TradeAgency.ca handles this for distributors, wholesalers and manufacturers with showrooms. We are a marketing service, not a contractor; we never install, repair or service equipment.

What it covers

There are three pieces, and they have to agree with each other.

  • Google Business Profiles. One per branch, with the right primary category (for example plumbing supply store, electrical supply store or HVAC equipment supplier), accurate hours including counter and will-call hours, photos of the counter and parking, products, and the questions contractors actually ask.
  • Location pages on your website. A real page for each branch: address, hours, phone, the branch manager's name if you choose, product lines stocked, delivery area, parking for trucks and trailers, and directions from the nearest highway.
  • Consistent details elsewhere. Name, address and phone the same on directories, manufacturer "where to buy" pages, buying-group listings and trade association member lists.

Who it's for

Distributors and wholesalers with two or more branches, manufacturers with showrooms or factory outlets, and buying groups whose members want help with their own listings. It is especially valuable after an acquisition or rebrand, when old listings tend to linger for years.

What's included

  1. Listing audit. We find duplicates, wrong categories, unverified profiles and old names across all branches.
  2. Clean-up and verification. Merging, updating and verifying listings, coordinated with your branch managers.
  3. Location page build. A page per branch, written from local detail rather than copied templates.
  4. Photos and posts plan. Simple monthly tasks branch staff can actually do: counter photos, new stock, training nights.
  5. Review requests. A plain process for asking contractors for honest reviews at the counter or after delivery.
  6. Monthly reporting. Calls, direction requests and website clicks from each listing, compared branch by branch.

Timeline

Audit and clean-up usually take three to six weeks, longer if many listings need re-verification. Location pages follow over the next four to eight weeks. Most suppliers see call and direction-request numbers move within the first quarter.

How results are measured

Google Business Profile reports calls, direction requests and website visits for each location. We combine those with call tracking on location pages, so you can compare branches fairly. Over time, the measure that matters most is whether branches with strong listings open more walk-in accounts than those without.

Proof from our HVAC work

GasBoilers.ca serves 26+ BC communities and holds 5.0★ from 76+ Google reviews, and Roma Heating & Cooling saw 400% organic traffic growth in 12 months. Both are results from our HVAC work with local service businesses rather than distributor branches, but the local search mechanics are the same. More on the results page.

What branch staff need to do

Very little, if the process is set up well. Each branch manager confirms hours and holiday closures once a month, takes a few photos when new stock or displays arrive, and asks satisfied contractors for an honest review now and then. We handle the listings, pages and reporting, and we send each branch a short monthly summary so managers see their own numbers.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Using the head-office number on every listing. Contractors want the branch, not a switchboard.
  • Leaving holiday hours unchanged. One wasted drive to a closed counter costs more goodwill than a dozen good visits earn.
  • Stuffing keywords into the business name. It breaks Google's guidelines and can get a profile suspended.
  • One generic location page. "We have branches across Canada" helps nobody looking for the closest one.

Branch listings are often the fastest win we find. Call, text or email for a free consultation, or read about catalogue SEO, which pairs well with this, and our Ontario and British Columbia market notes.

Frequently asked questions

We have 30 branches. Can each have its own Google listing?

Yes, each staffed location that serves customers in person can normally have its own Business Profile. Each also deserves its own page on your website with the details specific to that branch.

What about branches we acquired that still show the old name?

That is common after acquisitions and it confuses contractors. We merge or update old listings, redirect old web pages and make sure the new name, phone and hours are consistent everywhere.

Do reviews matter for a wholesale counter?

They matter more than most distributors think. Contractors read them for wait times, stock depth and staff knowledge. We help you ask for honest reviews; we never write or buy them.

Can we show early-morning counter hours separately?

Yes. Google Business Profile supports additional hours types, and many branches use them for counter, will-call or delivery hours. Get them right, because contractors rely on them.
